• Mumbai Metropolitan Region caters to a population of around 18,414,288 people. In 2008, about 2.3 million households in Greater Mumbai and close to a million households in the rest of MMR were not able to afford basic housing units.
  • About 60 per cent of households in the Greater Mumbai region and about 20 per cent of households in the rest of MMR reside in unsanitary slums.

Let Us Adapt!

  • There should be provision for more affordable pacca housing for the slums
  • Increased infrastructure like sewage lines, portable water supply and storm water drainage
  • No construction to be allowed in low lying areas

“What’s the use of a fine house if you haven’t got a tolerable planet to put it on?"
