The inventorisation project aimed at preparing a spatial environmental database by identifying environmental features and evaluating their condition. For this purpose, the preparation of a base map was thought to be prerequisite. Thus, the sub-project on, ‘Preparation of the Base Map for Greater Mumbai’ was undertaken by EPCDPM now known as HCPDPM.
It involved, preparing a base map by taking Development Plan 1991 as reference to digitise ward boundaries, roads, railway lines and other important features. It was further corrected by overlaying the map on the satellite image.
