The MMR-EIS supports wide range of projects on environmental issues in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region that may be broadly categorised as follows:

• Research Projects that are applied in nature, may involve basic research, studies undertaken on environmental asserts and processes which help or guide citizens, organisation and the government on further actions
• Implementation projects that have a demonstration value and which if successful could serve as a model for adoption by others. They may be targeted towards protection, conservation, rejuvenation of environmentally sensitive assets and processes
• Innovative projects that encourage experimentation, demonstration of new technologies and management approaches
• Training and Awareness projects that initiate knowledge dissemination through activities aimed at increasing public awareness of environmental issues and building capacities towards actions of on environmental improvemen
