The project aimed to study Bacterial Driven Strategies to Decontaminate Toxic Heavy Metals from Mithi River Using Bio-remediation Process
The main objectives of the project are as under -
To remove the concentration of heavy metals with the help of gene mutation of potential microorganism / bacterial consortium from Mithi River having high concentration of toxic heavy metals because of the dumping of industrial waste and garbage. The proponent intends to perform bioremediation of heavy metals by scale up process technique using potential microorganisms / bacteria isolated from heavy metal contaminated sites.
The proponent would also develop a biomat by absorbing the microbial consortia on immobilizing agents such as bagasses, activated charcoal and coconut husk and conduct absorption test in the laboratory on the same.
